to be selected for exhibition at

Barcu Art Fair, October 2021

& Exhibition in London,

Spring 2022

AMALGAMA & BARCÚ Art Fair invite all those who identify as women artists from Latin America, Spain and Portugal to submit works in any medium, engaging with the notion of fiction as both fact and/or fabrication.

We encourage artists to explore the two opposing roles of this concept in our current society and how this dichotomy has transformed our idea of reality in an age of factual uncertainty.

DISTORTED ENVIRONMENTS
Maria Elvira Escallón - Solo Show

Part of  Vortic's Female Voices of Latin America

05 April - June 2021

AMALGAMA ART presents Distorted Environments, a solo exhibition displaying the work of renowned Colombian Artist Maria Elvira Escallon. Curated by Daniela Galán, this exhibition shines a light on the meanings and boundaries of the embodiment of nature and, thus, its domination. Foreshadowing what today scientists suggest as our new geological era - the Anthropocene-, Escallón's work allows us to see both the impacts of human intervention in the ecosystem and man's fictional perception of nature. Is nature still an idyllic, unaltered, virginal place, or has human interference affected it to such a degree that all that surrounds us is just our own construct?
