This NEW online ART HISTORY course is designed to give you a basic understanding of the Latin American art scene during the first half of the 20th century. In it, you will learn about the most significant artists of the region, focusing primarily on female artists whose contributions have been vastly underrated. Each lesson is recorded in high definition so you can watch, rewing and observe in detail at your own pace. Our promise is that by the end of the course not only will you begin to master an understanding of the art of the region but you will also have fallen IN LOVE with incredible artists you may not have heard of or appreciated before!

You don't need to have a master's in art history or know every museum in the world to fully appreciate this class. Our classes are meant to be enjoyed by anyone interested in the subject. Everyone is welcome!

Each module has around 180 minutes of content (3 hrs) and is divided into 5-6 classes, each one with 2-3 videos. We give you suggested reading materials and questions that will guide you in your learning process as you watch each one of the videos. Once a month, there is a live Q&A so you can ask questions to the tutor and debate with your peers.

Do I need to have any prior knowledge of art history to do this course?
No, all our lessons have been designed for anyone interested in art. Everyone is welcome!
When will the lessons be available?
Each module will go live on the 10th of every month over the course of 6 months (you will receive the full schedule once you register), so you will have enough time to study each video. At the end of each module, there will be a live Q&A so you can ask the tutor all the questions you have about the module and discuss the artists with your peers.
I have paid for the course what happens now?
You will receive an email with the course schedule. Each module goes live every six weeks, with new classes launched on a weekly basis, so there is enough time to watch and ask questions about the content. Each module has approx 180 min (3 hrs) of content, divided between 5-6 classes, with 2-3 videos each. Every month, there will be a live Q&A session in which you can discuss the module with the tutor and your peers.
What happens if I start the course after module 1 has finished?
No problem! All modules are pre-recorded so you can join us at any time you want. If you missed a live q&a we will repeat it later on in the year when the course restarts.
Will I receive a certificate at the end of the course?
Yes, you will receive a certificate of attendance at the end of the course.
Is this course available in Spanish?

About the tutor
Daniela Galan is the founder and director of Amalgama. She is a registered lecturer at the Arts Society in the United Kingdom and has over 17 years of research in art history and philosophy. She has focused her investigation on artists from Latin America, especially female artists whose work remains underrepresented within the art industry. This was the founding purpose of Amalgama, which led her to curate numerous exhibitions, forums and publications since its inception in 2018.
